What I love and what I hate about 2015 dolls

Long time no see! I'm still here, collecting dolls, just have less time to write and read blogs. In 2015 I bought many Integrity Toys boys plus some female dolls of other brands, need to take some photos of them.

Back to topic of this post. Starting with the "love". None of the photos is mine.

- Techrat from IT's Jem and Holograms line.
Pale skin, black hair, 2 heads in pack, one of them with long hair and one half shaved - what's not to love here? Perfect guy for OOAK, one head can make perfect metal goth and the other a really great punk.I love this doll so much that I got 2 of them.Unfortunaltely had no time to sew him his own, personal clothes in chosen style, hopefully will do it sometime soon.

- Made to move! Love their bodies! Almost as articulated as Obitsu Body. I just dislike their flat butt, in my opinion it's only natural to have a bit bigger behind if your legs and waist are that muscular. But I love those bodies anyway and will try to rebody some part of my female dolls with them - not all because I want my dolls to have different height and body sizes. I also love that they are made in different colors, four as for now, and possibly there will be even more colors to choose from!

How great is that? But, where are guys? Mattel, stop with this misandry already!

- aside great majority of Mattel dolls I'm most dissaponted with Toki Doki doll.
How I regret buying her! She looks like a cheap clone doll and not like a collector one! I bought her for her first retail price , which was 75usd, now she cost like 20 something usd and I think it's still too expensive. I got her for a certain OOAK project, but changed my mind when I saw her real photos. Awful quality pink hair, eyes almost above her ears - everything about her screams "Katy Perry" (and I hate her as well)

- diversity = no White dolls.

First Prettie Girls proved it with their "oh, so diverse" line which included two Black dolls, one Latina and one Indian. There was some plans for a White doll too, but apparently are long forgotten. The company isn't answering on emails so there's no possibility to ask about Alexia (White doll).

And second - bunch of "diverse" dolls made and contributed to the 2015 Madrid Fashion Doll Show's charity auction by Carlyle Nuera. There was a Black doll with an afro, blond Asian girl, Indian guy with a man bun, Mulatto guy, Black guy (because two Black dolls just aren't enough apparently!), super dark doll (Dravidian? Black?)and the last one - surprise, it's a brown doll! From 7 dolls 6 are brown and one is Asian, so awesome! For convention taking a place in EUROPE, in Spain, we didn't get even one White doll! Imagine now that this convention had a place in Ghana and that you got dolls of all races/skin colors but no Black! Surely majority of White people don't care, because we are taught to never think about our race and would find my comment ridiculous, but I belong to minority in this subject. I do care. Don't get me wrong, I love dolls in all shades of color, the bigger diversity the better, I even really like those OOAK "diverse" dolls but I find it utterly offensive to not add even one White doll for a European convention.

Lammily. I had nothing against this doll untill Nicolay Lamm decided this is a feminist doll and made a t-shirts with a big FEMINIST on it, for little girls. Gee, I HATE feminist bs. Dear feminists of both genders, stop spewing hate and stay aways from kids!

Remembering Peter Steele

A bit too late, should have do it on April 14th, but better later than never, right?

Sean, like every other year since 2010, on April 14th visited local park.

He chose the biggest tree around here, and sat under it.

He spent there a few hours, thinking , remebering and grieving over the loss of his idol.

Soon he will be strong again, but not yet, just for a little longer he will allow himself to be sad, vulnerable and weak.

As the evening come Sean decided to go home. He knew he will be back in the same place in exactly one year.

Last month I got 5 new guys. One was ordered in February, price of some was too good to pass them, one was rare so I simply HAD to buy 3rd same doll. Every excuse is good, haha. Sometimes I wonder why did I buy female dolls at all!

handmade cardboard furnitures

As I wrote some posts earlier, I'm planning to make all furnitures to my planned doll room in shabby chic style. Of course, being me I got distracted at the very beginning of work, and started to work on furnitures to my other planned doll house, in bold colors, Frida Kahlo inspired. I managed to make just a few things in both styles before I got distracted again, so now I stopped to work on doll rooms/house and started to work on grocery shop. I wonder how far I will be with it before something else will get my attention :P
All furnitures are made entirely of cardboard, that's why they are far from being perfect.

Anyway, here are those few pieces for shabby chic room and those in Frida's colors :)

Those things were made for mexican styled home of John's family. I'm working on it since a year, making this and that, random pieces that one day, hopefuly, will be gathered together in a finished home. I'm rarely writing anything or introducing any doll characters, but my sister and I are enjoying our private doll's pantheon and drama on a daily basis, just not taking any photos.

John will help me to show some decorations I made meanwhile I was making other things.Those were planned for shabby chic room, but got stolen by Johnny :) ( sweater and top are by me too)

challenge 2014 - D and handmade dresser.

Today's theme is "carpet", in polish "dywan", that's why there is this "D" in the title. I'm being lazy again, but it's because I was working on handmade dresser. More about it after the carpet story :)
I'm really sorry for the look of this diorama, had to use what I had a least half ready.Sean's flat won't stay like that, I'm planning on upgrading it with real floor and some furnitures of course too.

Sean: Later. Now I have everything that I need - you, xbox and tv.

Since a few days I was working on handmade cardbox dresser. I decided to make by myself all furnitures for Melindas flat, just to check if I can. I think I have seen "zero spending month" idea on some blog, and decide to make my own version of it, "zero spending doll house". Dresser is made enterely of cardbox, doesn't look very good, but well,scrap this, Melinda got it from garage sale. I wanted to paint it to giveit a wood impression, but it came to rought after all, I think I overdone it. Maybe will fix it later. Legs are quite straight, drawers can be opened. Dresser is much heavier than it looks. But, at the end of the day, Melinda has her dresser, and I didn't send any money on it. Now I'm going to work on a chair.
Whole dresser (except handles which are silver) is chinese white, don't know why drawers looks somehow yellowish :/



Od paru dni robiłam biurko z tektury. Doszłam do wniosku, że wszystkie mebelki do mieszkania Melindy zrobię sama, aby się przekonać, czy dam radę. Wydaje mi się, że na czyimś blogu widziałam pomysł "zero spending month", to będzie moja własna wersja tego pomysłu, "zero spending doll house". Biurko jest w całości wykonane z tektury, nie wygląda najlepiej, ale co tam, Melinda kupiła je na wyprzedaży. Chciałam farbą nadać mu strukturę drewna, ale obawiam się,że przedobrzyłam, całe jest chropowate. Możliwe, że później jej poprawię. Nogi wyszły w miarę proste, szuflady się otwierają. Biurko jest dużo cięższe niż na to wygląda. Koniec końców, Melinda ma swoje biurko, a ja nie wydałam na nie ani złotówki.Teraz zamierzam zrobić krzesło.

Całe biurko (poza uchwytami które są srebrne) jest pomalowane białą farbą, nie wiem czemu szuflady wyglądają na żółtawe.
